Michigan Association of School Boards 2013 Education Excellence Award

Further, the Singing Christmas Tree was the winner of this year’s Excellence in Education Award, sponsored by the Michigan Association of School Boards. The Education ExcellenceAward program recognizes original, innovative programs in various categories that positivelyaffect student achievement in local and intermediate school districts. The Tree project was selected based upon its’ great benefit to students, parents, and our community as well. With the award comes a cash prize, a trophy to display at the high school and a road sign to be placed near the intersection of Seminole and Seaway Drive.

Director Shawn Lawton stated, “This award is truly a reflection of the outstanding tradition we have established here at Mona Shores. It is also the result of all the hard work, dedication and care shown annually by countless parents and students. It is with great pride that I accept this award on behalf of the entire Muskegon community.”

This year’s Singing Christmas Tree is being held in downtown Muskegon at the Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts, 425 W. Western, Muskegon, on Dec. 4, 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. each night with a 3 p.m. matinee Saturday as well.
